1. New Life

"How'd hunting go?" Said the king of the pride, Saelion, padding up to the lionesses returning from the hunt. "Hunting went awfully." Said Akira, a white half pridelander half outlander female with black eartips, honestly. Saelion sighs and then says, "Well good luck next time I guess... With the Snow Season slowly rolling in, there will soon be no prey. I wonder if I should talk to the other prides and-" with that, a small tan teen female shot out of the nearest cave and lept over to Saelion. Her eyes were wild with happiness and she said, "Saelion! Your cub! Arawen! Hurry!" Saelion felt his heart leap with joy. The queen, Arawen, was having his cub... now! He whipped around to Akira and said hastily, "Go inside and warm up, then maybe you could lead a night party." Then he dashed off to the nursery with the female that called him, Laeli, following right on his tail. He ran through the main tunnel and through all of the different corridors until he came to the nursery. He saw Arawen's cubhood best friend sitting next to her with her head bent down, whispering to Arawen. Then she turned with a smile and said, "Saelion..." Arawen turned her head and looked up at him, and Saelion quietly padded over and saw a small little brown cub lying in her paws. "He's the new little prince..." Arawen breathed. Saelion smiled, unable to speak. "The prince..." He whispered, then leaned over and nuzzled Arawen, and she nuzzled his back. "Our prince..." She murmured. "Kai." Saelion said, and Arawen looked up at Saelion, then back down at the small cub. "Kai." She said in agreement, then bent down and licked Kai's head. He sqeaked in protest, and shifted around a bit. Saelion chuckled, then said, "He's wonderful." He laid down next to Arawen, and Arawen soon drifted off to sleep. Kai wasn't the only small cub in the Pride. There was also a tiny lioness cub named Falanae, daughter of Arawen's cubhood friend. And there was Ember, the daughter of a rogue and a skinny lioness. There were also three full grown cubs named Drake, Jaye, and Luke, but by the time Kai was their age, they'd be close to teens. And there was one expecting grayish tan lioness that was barely days away from giving birth to her cub or cubs. Saelion bent his head down to rest them on his paws, and drifted off into sleep.
